But I must point out that you are 50% of the problem. You just took decisive positive action to fix the situation and get yourself where you want to be, and no sooner have you done so but then you go right ahead down the exact same path with the same mentality that got you into the bad spot....."i hope now to be able to get some wheels and nice tires, coil overs and shock tower braces, nice exhaust and intake" Just leave the car be, fix anything that is PRESSING with it maintenance-wise and just rag on it at autoX as-is and be ready to fix what you break while autoX'ing. If autoX'ing turns out to be too hard on your wallett and sanity, then the fix is easy, stop autoX'ing. Leaping headlong down the same road of doing the same thing but to a cheaper/simpler car when your situation as a student or income/job situation hasn't changed, is unwise to put it lightly IMHO. Congrats on getting your stuff in order, I think you have the opportunity to have a lot of fun with your miata, without sacrificing too much elsewhere.
